Why does material selection matter?
The right material determines a part’s service life, production cost and workability. The wrong choice comes back to you as premature corrosion, unnecessary weight or high cost.
Steel
With its high strength and reasonable cost, it is the first choice for machine frames and structures. It must be protected against corrosion with paint or galvanising.
Stainless steel
Used in food, chemical and industrial kitchen applications that demand corrosion resistance and hygiene.
Aluminium
Its light weight and corrosion resistance make it stand out in transport, electronic enclosure and decorative applications.
